AQUATIDE
Know our workplan

WP1 | Management
We will coordinate the project's progress, ensure milestones are achieved, and facilitate communication among partners. Graduate and undergraduate students will be actively involved, gaining hands-on research and management experience.

WP2 | Dynamics and Fate of Titanium Dioxide in the Aquatic Environments
We aim to evaluate TiO₂ nanoparticle levels in Portuguese waters, sediments, and fish across ecosystems with different human pressures, capturing seasonal and spatial variations.

WP3 | Trophic Transfer of Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles
We will study how nanoparticles move along the food chain, from microalgae to fish, and determine whether dietary exposure leads to higher bioaccumulation and toxicity compared to waterborne exposure.

WP4 | Nutritional Composition and Seafood Quality of Fish Exposed to Titanium
Dioxide Nanoparticles
We will assess the impact of TiO₂ nanoparticles on fish growth and nutritional composition, focusing on protein, lipid, and energy dynamics relevant for aquaculture and seafood safety.

WP5 | Unveiling Molecular Pathways of Titanium Dioxide in Fish
We aim to reveal how nanoparticles affect molecular and cellular processes in fish using advanced multi-omics approaches, focusing on the gut, liver, and brain.

WP6 | New Tools for Assessment of Effects of Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticle
Exposure
We will develop alternative and ethical testing methods based on fish cell cultures and biomarkers, enabling fast and sustainable detection of nanoparticle toxicity.
WP7 | Dissemination and Communication
We will promote knowledge sharing with scientists, policymakers, and society through publications, outreach activities, and training events.
